Two Days in Surabaya + Seafood Therapy at Bandar Djakarta

10:57 PM

Back in Surabaya for a blink-and-you-miss-it trip (sister’s graduation - proud! ✨).

I’m back longer next month, but for now: 48 hours, three selfies, zero plans… and one glorious seafood feast.

Bandar Djakarta, Surabaya — “Seaworld, but you eat the cast”

Huge, lively, and full of tanks" pick your seafood, pick the cooking style, then try not to cry when it’s too good.

(Sorry, ikan… food chain says hi.)

What we ate

1. Crab: fall-apart claws, already easy to crack (bless). Saucy, finger-licking, happiness.
2. Sambal Pencit: green-mango sambal (sour + spicy = chef’s kiss). Put it on everything.
3. Fish: fresh from the tank; I forgot which (I was busy falling in love).

Quick tips
  • Go a bit early; it gets packed.
  • Tell them how you want it cooked (bakar, saus padang, tiren—live your truth).
  • Order rice + a veggie (kangkung plecing, obviously).
  • Bring wet tissues. Crab joy = sticky hands.

Home feels

Being here makes me weirdly soft. Miss the city, the people, the chaos. It’s hard leaving a place where your feet know every turn.

But hey, we keep moving.
We keep eating.

We keep coming back.

See you again soon, SBY. 💙
