Helo Cafe by Bapak Bakery (Jl. Sudirman): Tiny Door, Homey Core, Black Burger for 25k, and Donuts That Don’t Pose
Diet lasted 1.5 episodes; friendship and fried things staged a coup. We ducked into Helo Cafe by Bapak Bakery. Outside looks mini, parking looks optimistic, but inside it’s homey, air-conned, with music, books, Wi-Fi, and the kind of lighting that forgives nothing but you stay anyway.
PS: “Bapak Bakery” = the Kerobokan bakery from the same owner (hence the name).
I didn’t plan a 2024 grand tour, but I did score a homecoming to Surabaya. Proof that blessings sometimes wear mall lighting.
Mission one: Yoshinoya finally opened here (Galaxy Mall + Tunjungan Plaza food court).
My inner Tokyo exile: vibrating.
Locations & crowd intel
Where: Galaxy Mall (spacious) and TP food court.
When: Even months after opening, there’s often a queue. Go off-peak (late afternoon) if you don’t want to socialize with a stanchion.

Red Flirts Fashion Show 2015, Beachwalk Fashion Weekend: Cute People, Better Outfits, and a Door Prize That Adopted Me
I went to my first fashion show and showed up dressed like the intern who forgot which store sells clothes. Meanwhile the crowd: glossy, composed, walking moodboards. I clutched a snack and pretended it was couture.
Event: Beachwalk Bali Fashion Weekend
When: Sat–Sun, Feb 28–Mar 1, 2015, 6:00 PM
Where: Fountain Stage, Beachwalk, Kuta
Status: If you’re reading this now… you missed it. (same. emotionally.)
What I saw (between blinking and trying not to spill)
Sunday’s runway lineup brands:
- Topshop
- Topman
- Universo
- Gaudi
- The One
- Seafolly
- Oakley
- Anton&Co
- Nautica
- Lacoste
I shop Topshop and Gaudi when I’m feeling brave, so seeing their new drops made my wallet try to file a restraining order.
Snack review because I am who I am
Tiny bites, big joy. I nearly became that girl who demolishes the canapés and becomes post content. I behaved. Barely.
Shots? Blurry! Feelings? Crisp!
My photos look like they were taken by a raccoon with dreams.
But the show?
Fun, glossy, and dangerously persuasive.
Half the looks whispered “buy me,” the other half whispered “you are five feet tall, I will drown you.”
The plot twist (a.k.a. why my hands shook)
I stayed for the door prize and, hello~
I won a free stay at Swiss-Belinn Seminyak.
Beachwalk had already slipped me another voucher earlier, so I’m basically sponsored by luck and mild disbelief.

Got a free tickets for staying in SwissBellinn Seminyak! woot woot
I actually got another ticket from beachwalk before this so I'm really happy with this!
Pros & cons (speed run)
Pros
✨ Strong brand lineup in one place
🕕 Clear schedule (6 PM start) and open-air Fountain Stage vibes
🥐 Snacks (tiny, perfect)
🎟️ Door prizes that actually land
Cons
📸 Low-light runway vs. my amateur camera = abstract art
🧍♀️ If you didn’t dress up, you’ll feel like set dressing
💸 Post-show urge to buy everything is medically significant
Tips for next time (for future-you)
Wear something you can sit + stand + photograph in.
Snack before you go, snack at the event, snack after. (Trust me.)
If there’s a door prize: stay. Fate loves a captive audience.
Thank you very much Beachwalk Bali! gotta hear a lot of good news on you!
