Koko’s Birthday: Budget Joy, Sushi Edition 🍣

2:03 AM

In Indonesia, the birthday kid treats the friends.
We celebrate by emptying our own wallets (so wholesome, so painful).

Koko’s big day landed on my holiday for once, so I actually got to celebrate.
Lucky me; unlucky bank account.

Venue math

300-dollar-per-person fine dining?
That’s a funeral for my savings.

Sushi Tei?

Reasonable, photogenic, button on the table to summon waiters like we’re CEOs.
Sold.

What we ate (and felt)

Birthday sushi: salmon on top, cheese + cucumber inside. Cute, crowd-pleaser, very “blow the candle but make it fish.”

Soup (included) and mochi (≈ IDR 35). Mochi was… unusual.
My heart said “aw,” my mouth said “hmm.”

Damage: ~IDR 300k for 4 people. That’s friendship pricing.

Cast

Koko: birthday boy, forever 17.
Golden Girl: Always the lucky one.
Cece: smiles for sushi but her soul speaks Korean food.
Me: camwhoring for archival purposes because laptops crash but the internet remembers.

Breaking news: Sushi Tei has a table call button.
I pressed it like it was a fidget toy.

Service: fast.
Waitress: mildly over me.

Tradition check

We didn’t do surprise balloons or cocktails.

Just good sushi, too many photos, and shameless table-button pressing. Pure joy on economy mode.

Happy birthday, Ko. May your salmon always be fatty and your age eternally 17. 💙
