Hakata Ikkousha, Surabaya: Broth, Buns, and Broadcasts 🎤🍜
12:20 AMMy Jakarta friends swear by Hakata Ikkousha and Ikkudo Ichi. Lucky me: Hakata’s in Surabaya now (three branches!), and my ramen cravings finally got their moment.
Vibe
Dropped in at 3 PM: quiet, spacious, bright. Staff were super warm and weirdly delightful: they call orders to the kitchen via microphone so the whole shop hears your destiny. Felt like dining inside a spy movie.
Ocha: IDR 8.8k, free refills. They topped me up three times (almost four). I basically became ocha with legs.
Pork-shy? There are chicken and beef items, but the menu does lean porky. (No, there’s no “pork ocha,” behave. 😆)
What I ordered

Ramen Babi Spesial IDR 56k
Rich, a bit oily (you can see it, you can taste it). Not Tokyo-level, but solid 8/10 satisfying.

Ramen Ayam Spesial IDR 56k
Lighter, cleaner broth. On balance, I prefer the chicken here—but both bowls are happily slurpable.

Gyoza (chicken) set from 30k++
Juicy, crisp bottoms, gone in 60 seconds. I didn’t try the pork version—report back if you do!

Crushed fresh garlic, add-on (Jokes, of course)
There’s a tiny garlic press and a sprinkle fee (like IDR 800). Yes, I giggled at paying pocket change to perfume my soup. Worth it.
Service & damage
Service was so kind it melted my crunchy soul. Bill memory says tax yes, service maybe (my brain was bathing in broth). Either way, price felt fair for the cozy slurp session.
Summary:
1. Come off-peak for a calm bowl.
2. Chicken ramen if you want cleaner; pork for richer.
3. Smash the garlic. Hydrate with reckless ocha.
4. Prepare for your order to be announced to the world like it’s a concert.

Finished with ice cream, as one does. Happy Saturday night, fellow noodlers.
