Thainam, Malang: Thai + Viet comfort before Museum Angkut

3:15 PM

Malang for a day! We were headed to Museum Angkut, but my sister detoured us to Thainam. Short for Thai + Vietnam (my two curiosity countries).

First glance: tiny frontage. Inside: surprise glow-up, cozy, photogenic, total “model dadakan” playground.

I even did a panorama between yawns because…
yes, I slept 5 hours in the car. Face: swollen.

Mood: happy. #notazombiefie

The food

Menu’s split into appetizers, veggies, specialties, desserts, drinks. Prices roughly 35–75k.

Pad Thai. good; the Sydney one I had was punchier, and the best is still… in Thailand (obviously).

Bò Lúc Lắc / Gỏi Lúc Lắc (Go Luc Lac), my fave of the day: tender, savory, very shareable.

We ordered a small spread for four; bill landed around 200–300k total. Nice.

Sips + service
Iced Thai Green Tea: not too sweet (bless), super gulpable.

Friendly staff, complimentary kerupuk while you wait, no Wi-Fi
(touch grass, talk to family ✨).

Verdict

Great pre-(or post-)Museum Angkut pit stop. Cozy room, fair prices, easy crowd-pleasers. Especially if you’re eating family-style.
