Serabi Hunt in Bali: Waroeng Soerabi Bandoeng 101 (Jl. Dewi Sri)

Selamat bulan Februari! Time is sprinting and my cravings are too, so… serabi time. After ages without it (and a friend begging to try), we went to my go-to spot: Waroeng Soerabi Bandoeng 101 on Jl. Dewi Sri. It’s my fave because the servers are ridiculously kind, even when I attack them with dad jokes.
(They still smile. Bandung hospitality supremacy.)
First, what is serabi?
Indonesian “pancakes,” originally from Bandung. Two main tribes:
Serabi Manis (sweet): toppings like chocolate, cheese, nutella/ovomaltine, etc.
Serabi Asin (savory): egg, sausage, and other salty toppings.
I’m loyal to Coklat Keju (choco-cheese) which is both my true love and my enemy (calorie math? probably 200–300 per piece… feels like dinner disguised as dessert).
Ordering & vibes
You usually order at the front (there’s a counter); if you’re seated inside they might take your order at the table.
Interior is cute: Bandung & serabi wall bits. Simple, lively, and almost always crowdead.
Note: I couldn’t find Wi-Fi last time (my eternal sorrow). If you’ve cracked the code, share your ways.
What we got
Serabi Coklat Keju: the classic. Gooey, salty-sweet, instant serotonin.
(Next time) I’m eyeing Ovomaltine or Toblerone serabi because I like chaos.
Drinks: I love their teh tarik (iced, lightly sweet, very slurpable).
Price range (friendly!)
Regular serabi: IDR 7–20k
“Special” toppings (ovomaltine, toblerone, etc.): ~IDR 28–50k
They also do roti bakar, pisang bakar, jagung serut, and noodles if serabi isn’t your religion.
Why I like this place
Staff are unfailingly polite & patient (even with my jokes—heroic).
It scratches that Bandung nostalgia itch (lots of the crew are Sundanese).
Menu is simple, prices are kind, toppings go from cute to unhinged in the best way.
Tips
Peak hours get busy: go slightly early/late if you hate waiting.
If you’re new to serabi, start with Coklat Keju or Kinca (gula merah) for a classic sweet profile; try Telur / Sosis if you’re savory-curious.
Sharing is smart… unless you meet my Coklat Keju. Then, no.
